When Taiwan's government shattered the country's telecommunications monopoly, KG Telecom blazed the path for others to follow in the new open market. KG Telecom was granted permission to operate a mobile telecommunications system in Taiwan in January 1997.
In December 1997, KG Telecom obtained Taiwan's first private GSM1800 mobile service license. In January 1999, KG Telecom acquired Tuntex Telecom, another major operator in Taiwan's telecommunications market, to provide island-wide GSM1800 service. KG Telecom has more than 1,300 employees with total capital asset at NT$ 17.4 billion. |
